Next: Search for Pages

You can search for pages containing text in all the wikis in your attention neighborhood.

The search bar is at the bottom of the browser window:

The search bar, mainly

* The **lock** symbol on the left indicates that you don't have permission to edit this wiki.

* The **search bar** is next. More on that below.

* The total **number of pages** in your attention neighborhood. (I've added pages since I took the snapshot above, so the number will be bigger.)

* The **hamburger menu** (three stacked lines) will open a page interesting only to people editing a wiki. For example, it lets them add a street map with pins for locations found in the lineup.

* The word **"wiki"** is clickable. For a wiki owner, it turns on the ability to edit a page. It does the same for a non-owner, but the changes aren't to the actual page but to an unsaved copy. If you don't own a wiki to save it to, there's not much point to making it.

In the **search bar**, type "welcome" (without quotes).

You should see a popup menu with titles and the first paragraph of the page. If you click on the title, that page will be added to the lineup.

The first two entries should be the titles "Welcome Visitors." Note that there's the one for the origin wiki and the one for this one.

Below it you'll see pages that have the word "welcome" in them, including this page. If the word is in the first paragraph, it will be highlighted. If not, you know the word is somewhere later in the page.

If you hit **return** or **enter**, the search results will appear on a page added at the end of the lineup. That way, you can click through the titles to browse the matching pages.

The search is not fancy. It looks for matching text. Case is ignored. Punctuation characters in the search bar are ignored.

The usual way to use the search bar is to type a word, glance over the results, then type another word to narrow them. For example, try typing "neighborhood" and then a space and "welcome".
